Black Bean Dip

   Sauté Aromatics

   • Place a medium skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Once shimmering, add the finely chopped onion and jalapeño.
   • Sauté for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent and softened.
   • Add the minced garlic and cook for another 60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.

   Bloom Spices and Warm Beans

   • Stir in the ground cumin and chili powder. Cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly, until the spices are fragrant.
   • Add the rinsed and drained black beans and salt to the skillet. Stir to combine everything.
   • Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the beans are heated through.

   Blend to Desired Consistency

   • Carefully transfer the hot bean mixture from the skillet to a food processor or a high-powered blender.
   • Add the fresh lime juice and chopped cilantro.
   • Blend the mixture until it reaches your desired smoothness. For a chunkier dip, pulse a few times. For a creamy dip, blend until smooth.
   • If the dip is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until it reaches the perfect consistency.

   Garnish and Serve

   • Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning if necessary, adding more salt for flavor or a splash more lime juice for brightness.
   • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl.
   • Garnish with a sprinkle of extra fresh cilantro and serve warm with tortilla chips, pita bread, or fresh vegetable sticks.
