Baked Brie with Walnuts & Honey
This classic baked brie appetizer features a creamy, molten wheel of brie cheese, generously topped with crunchy toasted walnuts, a sweet drizzle of honey, and a hint of fresh rosemary, creating an irresistible blend of textures and flavors.
For 6 servings
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a small baking sheet or oven-safe dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Carefully unwrap the wheel of brie. You can leave the rind on; it helps hold the cheese together and is edible. Place the brie in the center of the prepared baking sheet or dish.
Bake the brie for 12-15 minutes, or until it is visibly softened and gooey when gently pressed. The rind might puff up slightly, and the cheese should feel very soft to the touch.
While the brie bakes, if your walnuts are not pre-toasted, spread them on a separate dry pan and toast in the oven for the last 5 minutes, or until fragrant and lightly browned. Alternatively, toast them lightly in a dry skillet on the stovetop over medium heat.
Once baked, carefully transfer the warm brie to a serving platter. Immediately sprinkle the toasted chopped walnuts evenly over the top of the brie.
Drizzle the honey generously over the walnuts and brie. If using, sprinkle with finely chopped fresh rosemary and a pinch of flaky sea salt.
Serve immediately with sliced baguette, crackers, apple slices, or pear slices for dipping. The brie is best enjoyed while still warm and molten.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1Don't Overbake: Brie is done when it's soft and gooey, not fully melted and running. Overbaking can cause it to burst and become oily.
- 2Serving Temperature: Serve immediately! Baked brie cools quickly, and its irresistible gooey texture is best enjoyed warm.
- 3Pre-scoring: For easier serving, you can lightly score the top rind of the brie in a crosshatch pattern before baking, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- 4Toasting Nuts: Always toast your nuts! It significantly enhances their flavor and crunch, making a big difference in the final dish.
