Wash the Orange
Thoroughly rinse the entire orange under cool running water for at least 15-20 seconds, gently scrubbing the peel with your hands or a soft brush to remove any dirt, pesticides, or wax. Ensure all surfaces are clean before proceeding.
- prep · ~3 min
Peel the Orange
Using your fingers or a small paring knife, carefully remove the outer orange peel. Start from one end and work your way around, trying to keep the pith (white fibrous layer) attached to the peel as much as possible for easier removal. Discard the peel.
TIPFor a cleaner peel, score the orange skin lightly in quarters from top to bottom before peeling, making it easier to separate large sections. - assemble · ~2 min
Segment or Slice
Once peeled, you can either separate the orange into individual segments by hand, removing any remaining pith or seeds, or slice it crosswise into rounds. Arrange the segments or slices neatly on a plate for an appealing presentation.
