This 14-day Indian gut-healing meal plan combines daily traditional fermented foods (idli, dosa, dhokla, kanji, chaas, dahi) with prebiotic fiber (oats, bajra, leafy greens, onion-garlic, methi, ripe banana) to support a diverse gut microbiome. Indian fermented foods are some of the world's oldest probiotic traditions — idli batter ferments 8–12 hours, dhokla 6–8 hours, kanji 3–5 days — and they deliver Lactobacillus, Saccharomyces, and other beneficial species. Daily target 1,900 kcal split 480/570/280/570. Each day includes at least one fermented dish (often two), at least one prebiotic-rich vegetable, and emphasis on dietary diversity (the strongest known driver of microbiome richness). Day 1 starts Sunday.

Most of the week’s cooking happens on Sunday. Doing the prep up-front means weekday meals come together in 10 minutes or less.
Microbiome health is built over months, not days — but you'll likely notice digestive comfort changes in 1–2 weeks. The two non-negotiable principles: (1) eat fermented foods daily — at least one serving — and (2) eat as many different plant species per week as possible (target 30+). This plan covers ~40 distinct plant ingredients across 14 days. After completing, keep the habit: a daily small bowl of dahi or chaas, weekly batch of dhokla or idli, and varied vegetables. If you have a diagnosed gut condition (IBS, IBD, celiac, SIBO), use a condition-specific plan instead — this plan assumes a generally healthy gut.
