Savory Fig & Prosciutto Bites
These elegant Savory Fig & Prosciutto Bites are a perfect low-carb, high-flavor appetizer, featuring the delightful contrast between sweet fresh figs and salty, savory prosciutto, often enhanced with fresh basil and a balsamic drizzle.
For 4 servings
Gently wash the fresh figs under cool water and pat them completely dry with a paper towel. Carefully trim off the hard stem end from each fig.
Depending on the size of your figs, cut each fig in half lengthwise or into quarters if they are very large, ensuring each piece is bite-sized.
Lay out the thin slices of prosciutto. If the slices are very long, cut each slice in half lengthwise to create narrower strips suitable for wrapping.
Take one piece of fig and, if using, place a small fresh basil leaf on its cut side.
Carefully wrap a strip of prosciutto around the fig piece, securing the basil leaf in place. The prosciutto should hug the fig snugly.
Pierce the wrapped fig with a toothpick to keep the prosciutto and basil (if used) securely in place.
Arrange the finished fig bites on a serving platter.
If desired, lightly drizzle the assembled bites with balsamic glaze just before serving for an extra layer of sweet and tangy flavor.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1Choose Ripe Figs: Select figs that are soft to the touch but not mushy, with a rich, deep color. Overripe figs can be too soft to handle, while underripe ones lack sweetness.
- 2Quality Prosciutto: Invest in good quality, thinly sliced prosciutto for the best flavor and texture. The fat marbling adds to the richness and melt-in-your-mouth quality.
- 3Presentation Matters: Arrange the bites artfully on a white platter or a wooden board, perhaps garnished with a few extra basil leaves or a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
- 4Serve Immediately: While they can be assembled a little in advance, these bites are best enjoyed fresh to appreciate the texture of the figs and the delicate crispness of the prosciutto.

Drizzle with hot honey or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes instead of balsamic glaze for a sweet heat kick that beautifully complements the savory prosciutto.
