Soothing Lemon & Honey Tea
This comforting Lemon & Honey Tea is a simple yet effective natural remedy, perfect for soothing sore throats and coughs with its warm, tangy, and sweet profile.
For 1 serving
Heat the water until it is hot but not boiling. An ideal temperature is around 150-160°F (65-70°C) to preserve the beneficial enzymes in honey and lemon.
If using fresh ginger, peel the 1/2-inch slice and thinly slice it or gently crush it to release its flavors and beneficial compounds.
Pour the hot water into your favorite mug.
Add the raw honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice to the mug. If using ginger, add the prepared ginger slice(s) now.
Stir well with a spoon until the honey is completely dissolved into the hot water.
If you've added ginger, let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes to allow the ginger's flavors to infuse. You can cover the mug to keep it warm.
Carefully remove the ginger slice(s) before drinking, or leave them in for a stronger flavor.
Taste the tea and adjust sweetness or tartness if desired by adding a bit more honey or lemon juice.
Sip slowly and enjoy the soothing warmth.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1Use filtered water for the best taste and to ensure purity, enhancing the natural flavors of the lemon and honey.
- 2Always use raw, unpasteurized honey if possible, as it retains more of its natural enzymes and beneficial properties compared to processed honey.
- 3Avoid boiling water, as very hot water can degrade some of the beneficial compounds in honey and lemon, and make the drink too hot to comfortably sip.
- 4For maximum lemon flavor and aroma, zest a tiny bit of the lemon peel directly into the mug before juicing, ensuring it's organic and well-washed.
Adapt it for your goals.
