Sweet Lime & Mint Cooler
This Sweet Lime & Mint Cooler is a vibrant, incredibly refreshing drink, perfect for instant hydration and soothing a queasy stomach. Its bright citrus notes combined with cool mint make it an ideal pick-me-up any time of day.
For 1 serving
Wash the sweet limes thoroughly. Cut them in half and use a citrus juicer to extract all the juice, ensuring no seeds fall into the juice. Strain if desired for a smoother drink.
Gently wash the fresh mint leaves. Place them at the bottom of your serving glass. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press and twist the mint leaves a few times to release their aromatic oils without tearing them apart.
Pour the freshly squeezed sweet lime juice into the glass with the muddled mint.
If using, add 1-2 teaspoons of honey or sugar and a tiny pinch of black salt or sea salt. Stir well until the sweetener and salt are dissolved.
Fill the glass generously with ice cubes, about half a cup.
Top the mixture with chilled water or sparkling water, filling the glass to your desired level.
Stir everything gently with a spoon to combine all the flavors.
Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a sweet lime wheel on the rim of the glass, then serve immediately.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1Muddle Gently: Over-muddling mint can release bitter flavors. Just a few gentle presses are enough to release the oils and aroma.
- 2Adjust Sweetness: Sweet limes vary in sweetness. Taste your juice before adding sweetener and adjust according to your preference. A tiny pinch of salt enhances the overall flavor profile.
- 3Sparkling Boost: For an extra refreshing fizz, use chilled sparkling water instead of still water. Ensure it's very cold for the best experience.
- 4Batch Prep: To make a larger batch, juice several sweet limes and muddle mint in a pitcher. Combine with sweetener and salt, then chill. Add ice and water/sparkling water just before serving each glass.

Frequently asked questions
While you can, regular limes are much more tart. You would need to significantly increase the amount of sweetener (sugar or honey) to balance the acidity, and the flavor profile will be distinctly different, less sweet and more intensely sour.
