Fortified Yogurt & Berry Parfait
A quick and nutritious Fortified Yogurt & Berry Parfait, perfect for a healthy breakfast or snack, featuring layers of vitamin D-fortified Greek yogurt, vibrant mixed berries, and crunchy fortified granola.
For 1 serving
Gather all ingredients. If using frozen berries, ensure they are thawed slightly but still firm enough to hold their shape.
Select a clear glass (about 12-16 oz capacity) or a small jar for an appealing presentation of the layers.
Spoon about one-third of the fortified Greek yogurt into the bottom of the glass, spreading it evenly to create the first layer.
Carefully add half of the mixed berries over the yogurt layer, distributing them evenly.
Sprinkle one-third of the fortified granola or cereal over the berries. If using, add half of the optional honey/maple syrup and chia seeds/nuts.
Repeat the yogurt, berry, and granola layers once more, using the remaining half of the berries and another third of the yogurt and granola.
Finish the parfait with the remaining one-third of the fortified Greek yogurt on top, creating a smooth final layer.
Garnish with a final sprinkle of granola, a few extra berries, and the rest of the optional honey/maple syrup or chia seeds/nuts for a visually appealing and delicious finish.
Serve immediately to enjoy the crunch of the granola, or chill for up to 30 minutes if preferred for a cooler treat.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1Prep Ahead: Assemble parfaits in jars the night before for a quick grab-and-go breakfast. Keep the granola separate and add just before serving to maintain its crunch.
- 2Texture Contrast: Don't skip the granola! Its crunch provides a delightful contrast to the creamy yogurt and soft berries, enhancing the eating experience.
- 3Sweetness Control: Adjust the amount of honey or maple syrup to your preference, or omit it entirely if your yogurt or berries are sweet enough on their own.
- 4Presentation Matters: Using a clear glass or jar allows you to showcase the beautiful layers, making the parfait more appetizing and enjoyable.
