Green Smoothie with Stevia
A quick, nutritious, and refreshing green smoothie packed with healthy fats, protein, and greens, naturally sweetened with stevia for a low-carb, dairy-free boost.
For 1 serving
Gather all your ingredients and ensure the avocado is ripe and peeled.
Pour the unsweetened almond milk into the bottom of a high-speed blender. This helps the blades move freely.
Add the fresh spinach, followed by the peeled avocado half and the scoop of protein powder.
Add the ice cubes and start with 5 drops of liquid stevia.
Secure the lid and blend on high speed for 60-90 seconds, or until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy with no visible spinach flecks.
Taste the smoothie. If you prefer it sweeter, add 1-2 more drops of liquid stevia and blend for another 10 seconds.
If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more almond milk (1-2 tablespoons) and blend briefly until desired consistency is reached.
Pour the green smoothie into a tall glass and serve immediately for the best texture and nutrient retention.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1For an even colder and thicker smoothie without diluting the flavor, use frozen spinach instead of fresh. You might need slightly less ice.
- 2Always add liquids to the blender first, then soft ingredients, then solids and ice. This helps the blender blades work most efficiently.
- 3Adjust the amount of liquid stevia gradually. Stevia is potent, and a little goes a long way. It's easier to add more than to correct an overly sweet smoothie.
- 4To boost fiber and omega-3s, add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or ground flaxseeds to the blender along with other ingredients.
Adapt it for your goals.
Nutty Boost
Add 1 tablespoon of almond butter or cashew butter for extra healthy fats, a richer texture, and a subtle nutty flavor.
Berry GreenBerry Green
Introduce a handful (about 1/4 cup) of frozen berries like blueberries or raspberries for added antioxidants and a hint of fruitiness. Note this will slightly increase the carb count.
Tropical TwistTropical Twist
For a tropical flavor, add a few chunks (about 1/4 cup) of frozen pineapple or mango. This will also increase the carb content but adds a refreshing sweetness.
Why this is on our healthy list.
Nutrient-Dense
Packed with essential vitamins (K, A, C), minerals (iron, potassium, magnesium), and fiber from spinach and avocado, supporting overall health.
Sustained Energy
Healthy monounsaturated fats from avocado and high-quality protein from the powder help stabilize blood sugar levels, providing lasting energy and satiety without a sugar crash.
Digestive Health
The fiber content from greens and avocado promotes healthy digestion and can contribute to a balanced gut microbiome.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, absolutely! Fresh spinach works perfectly. However, using frozen spinach can help make the smoothie colder and thicker without needing as much ice, which can sometimes dilute the flavor.
