Simple Hemp Seed Milk
Whip up a batch of incredibly creamy and nutritious plant-based milk in just two minutes with this simple hemp seed milk recipe, requiring no soaking or straining.
For 4 servings
Gather all your ingredients and ensure your blender is clean and ready. If using a Medjool date, make sure it is pitted.
Add the hemp hearts, filtered water, sea salt, and any optional ingredients (vanilla extract, pitted Medjool date) into a high-speed blender.
Secure the lid and blend on high speed for 60-90 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. There should be no visible pieces of hemp hearts.
Taste the milk and adjust sweetness or flavorings if desired. You can add another pinch of salt, a touch more vanilla, or a small amount of maple syrup for extra sweetness.
Pour the fresh hemp milk into an airtight container, such as a glass jar or bottle. Store it in the refrigerator and shake well before each use, as some separation is natural.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1For best results and the creamiest texture, use a high-speed blender. Regular blenders might require slightly longer blending times.
- 2Natural separation is normal: Hemp milk will naturally separate in the refrigerator. Simply give it a good shake before each use to re-emulsify.
- 3Adjust consistency: For a thinner milk, add an extra 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water. For a richer, creamier milk (great for coffee), reduce the water to 3 cups.
- 4Storage: Homemade hemp milk typically lasts for 3-5 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Adapt it for your goals.

Frequently asked questions
Hemp hearts are soft and break down completely in a high-speed blender, creating a smooth, pulp-free milk. This means you retain all the fiber and nutrients, unlike nut milks which often require straining.
