Simple London Fog
A comforting and aromatic Earl Grey tea latte, infused with vanilla and topped with creamy frothed milk, perfect for a cozy moment at home.
For 1 serving
Bring 1/2 cup of fresh water to a boil (around 200-212°F / 93-100°C).
Place the Earl Grey tea bag in your favorite mug. Pour the hot water over it and steep for 4-5 minutes, or to your preferred strength. For loose leaf tea, use a tea infuser and strain after steeping.
While the tea steeps, gently heat 1/2 cup of milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until steaming but not boiling (around 150°F / 65°C). Alternatively, microwave the milk in a microwave-safe mug for 60-90 seconds.
Using a milk frother, whisk, or immersion blender, froth the warm milk until it doubles in volume and becomes creamy and airy.
Once the tea has steeped, remove and discard the tea bag (or strain loose leaf tea).
Stir in the vanilla extract and your preferred sweetener (if using) into the steeped tea until well combined.
Gently pour the frothed milk over the tea. Use a spoon to hold back the foam initially, then spoon the remaining foam on top of the latte.
Serve immediately and enjoy your cozy London Fog.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1For the best flavor, use high-quality Earl Grey tea; loose leaf varieties often offer a more nuanced taste than tea bags.
- 2Whole milk or oat milk tend to froth best due to their fat content and protein structure, creating a creamier foam.
- 3Avoid overheating the milk, as scorching can impart an unpleasant flavor and make it harder to froth effectively.
- 4Adjust the amount of sweetener to your personal preference, or omit it entirely for a less sweet, more tea-forward drink.
Adapt it for your goals.
