Sparkling Tangerine & Mint Refresher
A vibrant and refreshing mocktail featuring the bright, citrusy notes of tangerine paired with the cool, invigorating essence of fresh mint and effervescent sparkling water. This hydrating drink is a perfect pick-me-up that's far healthier than sugary sodas.
For 1 serving
Thoroughly wash both tangerines and the fresh mint leaves. Slice one tangerine into thin rounds for garnish and set aside. Halve the remaining tangerine(s).
Squeeze the juice from the halved tangerine(s) directly into a sturdy serving glass or a cocktail shaker, aiming for approximately 1/4 cup (60ml) of fresh juice.
Add the fresh mint leaves to the glass with the tangerine juice. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press and twist the mint leaves against the bottom of the glass for about 10-15 seconds to release their aromatic oils. Be careful not to over-muddle, which can make the mint bitter.
If you prefer a sweeter drink, add 1 teaspoon of agave nectar (or simple syrup) to the glass and stir well to dissolve and combine with the juice and muddled mint.
Fill the glass generously with ice cubes, approximately 1 cup, ensuring there's still room for the sparkling water.
Top the mixture with 240ml (1 cup) of chilled sparkling water.
Stir gently with a long spoon to combine all the ingredients without losing too much of the sparkling water's effervescence.
Garnish with a fresh tangerine slice and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing mocktail.
What to keep in mind.
4 tips from the recipe — small details that make a real difference to the final dish.
- 1Use very cold sparkling water and ice to ensure the drink stays crisp and refreshing for longer.
- 2Muddle the mint gently; over-muddling can release chlorophyll, leading to a grassy or bitter taste.
- 3Adjust sweetness to your preference. Tangerines vary in sweetness, so taste the juice before adding any optional sweetener.
- 4For an enhanced flavor, chill your serving glass in the freezer for a few minutes before assembling the mocktail.
Adapt it for your goals.

Experiment with other herbs like basil or rosemary instead of mint for a different aromatic profile. Muddle them gently as you would the mint.
